"Ghost Jumbo"

I was recently at MAN where i saw a jumbo, it had no livery and was all in white.

I was just wondering if anyone can help me track down its owner…..

Its reg was TF-ATE

Any help would be appreciated. 🙂

P.s In recent issues of airliner world i have noticed that they have started to use the registration of the plane and then another number after this. Does anyone know what this number referes to?

Thanx in advance :7

RE:

yup definitly an Air Atlanta Icelandic a/c. It may have been operating for another airline but may also have been operating for its own airline, Air Atlanta.

RE:

Hi all,

It has been used by many UK Charter airlines as a ad-hoc stby a/c. It has been noted all over the UK operating on behalf of mainly JMC and Monarch, as well as on it’s own ad-hoc charter flights (usually football related in EGNM’s case for LUFC). We followed this plane from EGCC TO LGIR, it set off 15 mins b4 us and when we arrived the pax were just disembarking!!!

RE: “Ghost Jumbo”

This aircraft has been a regular visitor to Manchester this year, it has certainly been there each time I’ve been. I was wondering about its origins too, I could only make out that it was an Icelandic aircraft, but why isn’t it painted in the Atlanta livery?

RE: “Ghost Jumbo”

Well you see as the Haj Pilgrims from all over the world make there way towards Mecca for there Haj prayers, many flights are chartered and painted absolutely white. Here in India also, Air India has taken planes from Kampuchean Airlines(proberbly DC 10s). These jets prberbly dont have seats inside as everyone gose sitting on the floor. While coming back each person is allowed 10 gallons of ‘ZamZam’ holy water from Mecca.

Well here is an interesting story someone told me……this person was covering one of these Haj flights, few mins after take off, to his shock, some people took out there stoves and water and started making tea…..but they were stopped by the crew after this person compltained.

I am not sure, but these all white jumbos can be for the Haj pilgrims in the UK.

RE: “Ghost Jumbo”

The number quoted after the registration is the Airframe’s serial number. So that you can keep track of particular aircraft when they are re-registered.

RE: “Ghost Jumbo”

It is being used by a charter airline although I’m not sure which one. It is a regular at MAN, I went up on two Sunday mornings and it was there both times, in the same position on the International Pier of T1. I’d guess its operating for Monarch.

The numbers after the reg, is it the construction number?
