Bit of a bizzare one this, and a long shot but please bear with me.
I happened to be at a house near Scampton today, as I was buying a ham radio aerial from the guy that lived there, and we got talking about our love of things Bomber Command, and he recalled an incident at Faldingworth’s Royal Ordnance section where he worked at recently, (within the last 15 years.) when he was there with his dad.
Apparently he was in an area/room where a tail end gunner got killed, assumingly during WW2, and upon entering this area with his Dad, the lights got switched off and he thought it was his Dad mucking around. His Dad explained that the light switch was some 20 feet behind them, and it must have been “Ginge” that did it.
Does anyone know who “Ginge” was or what aicraft he may have been the tail end charlie in?
