The fine on that Library book is going to be a bit steep!

Fully forgiven, Phil. Thanks for your well-intentioned concerns.

Erm, yes, bit of a **** up on the intelligent posting front, apologies and I was not at all sure my post was a wise one from the get go. I didn’t wish to offend the current owner of the items or anybody else for that matter.
My original concern was for the efficacy of the items and whether the family had an adequate opportunity to re-acquire them if they wished.
I felt uncomfortable with them being offered for sale on eBay, but on reflection it seems clear that the eBay vendor has been in touch with the family and that they are aware of the pending sale.
I wasn’t actually aware that we could delete our posts, Matt, and in any case to do so would seem discourteous to those who had already replied.
I will attempt to engage brain before operating digits in future.

Hi, yes that’s the plan, we have a Spit panel here from MT719 that was involved in a combat with Ginger Lacy, mentioned in squadron archives that MT719 (pilots name escapes me at the moment) was at the control when he saw a Japanese sniper in a tree shoot at Lacy’s Spit so the guns of MT719 were in action and shall we say knocked the naughty Jap out of the tree!

Ginger Laceys possessions being sold on e bay ,redhillwings was wondering whether the family were aware and he may bid as part of a museum and give it back to them 🙂 – – i think.
What Soggy means “Concerns answered, many thanks.Phil” I don’t know either.

Phil went back and edited his original message two hours after posting, according to the edit note/time stamp — after he’d received two replies. In that case, Phil, why not just delete the entire thread? 334 views as of 2308 on 6 Feb…with most of us left scratching our heads and left in the dark (short of trying to google for more info).

All,
I have emailed James Lacey’s daughter to alert her to the fact that these are up for sale.
Hopefully she will get the mail before the auction ends.

Representing a museum, I am thinking of bidding and giving them back to the family!
Thats a lovely thought but maybe you could add that in the event of them not wanting the items or the relatives passing away the museum gets them back.

I can only hope the family have given their blessing.Shame a museum couldn’t have had a chance so everyone could have access to it.
