Ginger Lacey's medals

At the weekend I visited Eden Camp near Malton, which was a really nice day out. However in their medal room they had a collection which the guy there said were the genuine Ginger Lacey collection. I know he was a Bridlington man when he died, but even so given his fame I would be be surprised if he left them to the museum, they must be almost xxx k of medals which would have even the richest challenged to secure them. The medal room is an annex off the cafe, so not as secure an area as medals such as these would warrant, so I would be surprised if they were genuine.

Does anyone know if they are likely to be genuine, or if Lacey’s medals are already known to be somewhere else?

Thanks.

Thanks for the link to the parliament motion, this suggests the ones displayed are probably not real then if the government needed a fund to be able to buy them. So probably a replica collection being displayed where they are is good for the NAAFI coffee shop business then.

Genuine or otherwise I doubt the Museum concerned would be very happy about having their security arrangements discussed on an open forum. Might be an idea to remove the security references from your post?

See this, seems there was plans to buy them for the nation back in 1990

I can’t really answer that one, but many medals do get copied.

I was at a talk a few weeks ago, all about the VC. The chap handed one
around for us to look at. When I looked up it’s history later, I found that there
were three copies of it.
