Would anyone have any knowlage on a Gipsy Major. I am thinking about buying one and want to know if they have a weakness to be aware of or if spare parts are still available. The one I have located is in a barn and has no history. I am thinking about it to power a replica. I understand without any history it is just a rebuildable core.
Thanks

I have 2 complete engines and two bottom ends (with cranks) available. Sitting near White Waltham, Berkshire (EGLM), no reasonable offer refused!
🙂
Sorry I missed this thread the first time around.
Which mark are they? How far gone are they? And how high is reasonable for the lot?? PM me with the details.

Most parts are still available. Deltair airmotive hold the type responsibility. Other Companies, such as Vintech are also able to carry out overhauls.
Skytrade in Devon have a large stock of parts (both consumable and rotable), LAS also hold most of the common gaskets used on checks.
A commercial rebuild is very expensive; think north of £30k if your core is deemed BER.:eek:
