AFAIK the RAF disarmament wing, who were in charge of disposing of German war material left in Northern Europe, had the aircraft scrapped and smelted on site by local salvage companies, who could put in bids for each job (job batch, not individual aircraft).

I just read this – the theoretical physics gave me a headache but he is a man with a plan that just may help you!

actually, its heart breaking in places, his father was a TV repair engineer in the 50’s who died when the writer was 11. Poor kid tried making a time machine out of tubes and valves from the fathers tool kit.

anyhow – these airfields captured in Germany, simple (?) question, were these airframes (bar a few taken to UK, USSR, GB etc) scrapped, burned, buried ?

The fourth photograph is very interesting. Notice how many of the aircraft have been deliberately cut open to form a large opening in one side of the fuselage. Most appear to be Ju86 to me and seem to have been scrapped so this photograph was presumably taken in Germany.

So, what was removed from the fuselage and why?
