Hi Guys
I’m new to the forum and just wondered if the guys that go to Glasgow Airport are members of a club and if so how do i join i don’t get to the airport much these days because i need to rely on public transport as i’m disabled due to a bad back and can’t walk far before feeling a lot of discomfort and pain.
I used to enjoy years ago taking my Scanner and gadget bag along to the airport and walking round the perimiter fence before they put up those big screens but is it true the screens are either off now or are getting taken off
Cheers
Jim

Yes, it’s a relatively small airport as things go, and as T5 has pointed out, we talk to each other. 🙂

Ren Frew, I have just read the security page on that website. Amazing.
If only the police and operators were more accommodating at other airports. They could have the services of an army of volunteer ‘security watchers’

Talking of matters Glaswegian……
I’ll be in Glasgow next Wednesday and Thursday evenings. What can I expect to see if I visit the place at about 6:00 – 6:30ish?

I’m no expert, since I’ve only visited once, but I’d guess at a flybe. Dash 8-Q400, perhaps a bmi A321 and if you’re lucky a Loganair/British Airways DHC6. :p
I’m sure most the decent stuff is much earlier in the day.

Don’t worry Jim, you’ll soon get used to us, Bhoy and I share a passion, or should I say misfortune of being Scottish footie fans as well as plane geeks. He likes the Sellick and I like the Buddies. 😀

lack of sporting teams to be proud of? Don’t European finals count? I don’t recall you moaning about lack of teams when you were in Seville at the Licence payers’ expense… 😉
National squads old son, national squads. 😀

Glasgow seems quite a friendly place.
First airport I’ve ever known where people approach you and have a chat about the movements. You never see that down here at Heathrow!
Unlike Edinburgh where they approach you with a hammer and nick your stuff. 😮
Seriously though… we are renowned us Scots for our warmth and friendliness, it’s an antidote to the crappy weather and lack of sporting teams to be proud of. And of course the whisky helps too. 😀
Do come again, we can go to PIK as well the next time. :p

Hi Jim welcome to the forums
I’m not a member of any clubs concerning GLA, I just turn up at one of the many viewing spots and snap away. Sometimes I meet other snappers there I’ve gotten to know, generally I’m there on my own though. There is an enthusiasts club with it’s own website, membership is always full and you have to join a waiting list. www.gaaec.vze.com
Some viewing spots are better than others, you can see through most crash gates, but one or two require you to croutch under the panels that are attached to allegedly prevent passing motorists from being startled by aircraft ground movements. Apparently some will be removed but I don’t know when ?
Incidentally, where in the west end are you ? I’m in Maryhill.
