Glasgow Departure

Hi,

I noticed something departing Glasgow yesterday at 17.35, it looked like a A310,767 ish size.

It departed 05 then turned to the north, then to the west and climbed out towards Ireland. I’ve never noticed a departure like this, has anyone else?

Also any idea what the aircraft was?

Cheers

Could also have been a New Galloway departure off 05 for something heading south although at that time of day you’d be hoping for an early right turn after departure away from the SID.

Probably going to ACE – most charters go there on a Thursday.
Off of Runway 05, Jets climb on the GOW054 Radial to 4.9DME ( this point has a weird name), before turning left towards ELBAN. Passing the TRN013 Radial, they turn back south torwards New Galloway or Turnberry. Occassionally Inbound traffic/EDI outbounds permitting aircraft will get a right turn at 4.9DME.
If you want you can get the charts at www.ais.org.uk – you will need to register but registration is free.

Thanks,

I could not see that far, but I suppose they have turned south to Turnberry.

just had a look at the AIP for Glasgow, 3 possible SIDs could fit that description.

ROBBO, CLYDE, or possibly TURNBERRY (via elban, ie left turn after initial climb)

can’t say anymore than that

Ken

Any idea where the A/C was going? Normally they would turn south. Semms a bit strange to have a trans-altlantic flight departing at that time.

Could it have been an Air Scandic A300?
