Glasgow Spotting

Afternoon All.

I’m planning a trip to Glasgow to have a look. Does anybody know if there’s a viewing area / if it’s any good / other places around the airport. I’ll only have a couple of hours due to my flight arrival / departure times.

Cheers.

Thanks for the info.

I’m looking at probably July/August, will need to arrive on BMI and leave on Easyjet due to weekend flight timings.

Will now have fun booking flight with BMI probably to find Easyjet fully booked for the return!.

Cheers.

So are you travelling from East Midlands ?

Give me a shout nearer the time and I may show you round the good spots if I’m free.;)

There’s no official viewing area, from inside the terminal you can look out onto domestic departures or from Garfunkels cafe/bar upstairs. For everything else you need to go walkabout.

There’s some good spots just either side of the termnal and International departures that let you view the aprons from behind a fence. On the West side is International and on the East is lo-co domestic and business/freight. You can walk to either side in minutes from the terminal.

Depends on who your flying with, but if it’s BA, Flybe or BMI then you’ll also get good views post security from the long domestic pier. Views from the lo-co pier (Easyjet , Bmi Baby, Aer Lingus) aren’t too bad but not as good owing to the large amount of frosted glass in the windows.

Most of the places I take my pictures from are outwith the airport and at least 20 mins walk or a taxi ride.

Ren Frew is the official Glasgow Spotting guru here.

But if you want, say time and date and we’ll could perhaps have a little welcoming committee meet ya 😉
