Glenn Miller killed in Friendly Fire with RAF?!

I watched a highly interesting docu on the TV, I think the History Channel, earlier today.

According to the makers of the documentary, the last flight of Glenn Miller in 1944 may have run foul of accidental fire from a large formation of overflying Lancaster bombers.

Has anyone else seen this documentary today?

Apparently some 130+ Lancasters had abborted a bombing raid mid-mission, and were crossing back across the channel to release their 500lb and 4000lb bombs into the sea before attempting landing in Britain.

The bomb release zone, was apparently fairly large in radial size, but allegedly, Millers plane, a light aircraft, single-engined, strayed of course and under a flight of Lancaster.

Anyone who has seen this docu will also recall the testament of a Lancaster Navigator who claimed he saw a “kite”, or light aircraft stray into the bombing path of the Lancasters as they dropped their heavy ordinance, resulting in the instant destruction of the plane.

Any takes on this?
