Considering the RQ-4C version has been developed for martime surveilance I was wondering how much of a stretch it would be to stick a airborne radar onto something like the Global hawk to perform surveilance over airspace and act as a mini AEW aircraft.
The thought would be for base stations to be able to directly link into the Hawks systems and similar for aircraft in the local vicinity.
It may not be able to help in all out war, as I presume the radar coverage or range would be relatively restrictive but it may be able to help in anti drug work looking out for opportunistic light aircraft or say enemy UAV’s on a spy mission.
Does a system already exist?
