Can anyone tell me what Globespan will be using on their Edinburgh Palma flights this summer?
I am on GSM 448 and 449 and I suppose hoping against hope that I will be on one of their latest purchases.

The way I understood it was that Flyglobespan was origionally set up by the Dart Group / Channel Express and operated as Channel Express trading as Flyglobespan. That was before Flyglobespan went it’s own way.
They started with leased Channex aircraft, and still do use a couple, but they have never been owned by Dart Group, and they weren’t set up by them either.

Why would the Dart group start two low costs up when it costs twoce as much in terms of marketing?

As Stuart says, FlyGlobespan have never had anything to do with the Dart Group.

Manston – regarding your bizarre PM about my comment on the other thread, all I meant was that EU Jet used to codeshare on flights, but now of course dont cos they are bust!

No they were never started by anyone from the Dart group, they have always been an in-house airline for the tour operator Globespan, Tom Darymple is the man in charge of Globespan and Flyglobespan and he is also the guy who started it all.
G-CDRA is the reg of the new B736 that has just been delivered, and Flyglobepan don’t use TF-ELN anymore.

Does anybody know the current fleet of Globespan and what a/c are based at which airports?
Flyglobespan currently have 3 B738s, 3 B736s with one more to be delivered, and 2 B733s.
GLA- 3 B738s, 1 B733s, 1 B736
EDI- 1 B736, 2 Channex B733s that Flyglobespan still use when required.
STN- 1 B733
1 B736 is currently away getting a re-fit, and there is one more to arrive from SAS in January. They will also be receiving a B763 next year in time for the GLA-SFB flights, they have plans for a 2nd but I’m not sure what they are doing with that yet, and whether it’ll be in the fleet for next summer.

Thanks for that guys! 😎
By: RIPConcorde - 27th May 2005 at 19:11
So where have they got this aircraft from and what type of 737 is it?
It’s a B734 leased from Travel Service, who are czech, for the summer.

737-400 leased from Travel Service.

OK-TVR should be heading across to EDI soon.

OK-TVR should be heading across to EDI soon.
It positioned in last night. So it’s now at EDI operating the new frequency increases that started today with GSM flightcodes.

Ah, so this will be to operate the other GSM code flights then that start at the end of this month as frequency increases? I notice that their are 3 departures from EDI most if not all mornings from the beginning of June.

Mmmm not sure how it all works at EDI. Todays PMI flight is with the Channex code.
23.55 EXS6107 PALMA
That was actually the 2nd PMI flight of the day, there was another with a GSM code this morning.
By: RIPConcorde - 21st May 2005 at 21:25
One thing for sure, is that with those flight codes it won’t be a Channex QC. Most likely to be one of Flyglobespan’s B733s. G-OTDA is the one based at EDI just now so most likely to be that, G-GSPN is still at GLA currently.
Current based Flyglobespan aircraft at EDI just now are:
TF-ELM- B733 QC
G-CELR- B733 QC
G-OTDA- B733
G-CDKT- B736 (saw this for the first time today, SAS hybrid, but will be used exclusively for STN and PRG I think, so highly unlikely to be this.)
EDI will be needing one more GSM aircraft by the end of this month too, although it’s possible it will stay based at GLA and do the old GLA-EDI trick, We’ll see…

OTDA and GSPN have indeed been transferred to EDI
The 737QC currently operating from EDI is G-CELR
Your GSM flight code may mean one of the other two.
Dont think the 736 will be used, and currently the 738’s are at GLA.
By: LBARULES - 21st May 2005 at 13:53
G-OTDA and G-GSPN are normally at EDI arent they ?
