Hi all
I was lucky to get some complete Javelin panels and cockpit parts and would like to put them together to a small cockpit mockup.
Online I found very few pictures, too few to guess the version and some missing details.
Would be great if someone of you could help me out.
Also from the main panel section I miss two parts, the correct UHF radio control panel and the lower left panel (see picture).

If someone wants to get rid of Javelin cockpit parts….
Anyone around with another Javelin instrument panel in his collection? Seems not that common as Meteor or Canberra.
Kind regards from Austria,
Herbert

Resurrecting an old thread.
I loaned some cockpit panels to someone, on this forum, for copying. Usual story, I need them back but no reply to emails.
So does anyone have any of the panels from the front cockpit port and starboard consoles and the quarter front panles for a Mk7 spare?
I can buy the instruments with luck but I’ve never seen panels for sale.

Brillaint Herbert, that looks sensational, nice to see the GGS re-united with a headpad.
The twin microswitches on the top linked by the large bridge (that pops off when you depress the spring-loaded ends) is NORMAL TRIM nose up / down.
The ‘thumb’-side button runs the gun camera.
The one hiding at the front of the grip may be a copy of the Press-To-Talk or Press-To-Mute (both also on the Stbd throttle).
Trigger and Safety catch don’t need a mention, other than to say as soon as you move the safety catch away from SAFE, the gun-firing inverters (Type 300) would start if guns were selected (… and no weight on wheels or Butt Test switches ON!).
You’ve done her proud there.
Any further clues to the aircraft I/D?
One interesting point from your pic of the rear of that main panel is the fitment of the Horizon Gyro Mk3A rather than the FAW.9’s default HGU Mk3 – an odd choice since it has an 18-way cable on it designed to connect to a control unit for auto-fast-erect and be able to feed the Sperry automatic pilot I’d normally associate with an FAW.8 – or I might just be mad!
Good stuff.
Cheers
JK

Here we are, united with the control grip.
Any informations regarding the role of the switches at the grip welcome.
Kind regards,
Herbert

I have an airspeed indicator (Kollsman mk 28) available for trade or sale if you need it. Proceeds will go into the restoration of our T21.

It’s a Mick Reeves Kit ( google it ) that I bought a while ago. A good friend of mine built it ( Static only. It will not /cannot fly ). I had the kit made up as XH885, since that is the aircraft my centre panel came from.
For some reason SWMBO won’t allow me to hang it in the living room. But luckily the barn is big enough 🙂

Thanks for the infos, John
Maybe I try the gunsight head rest.
Yes, the identification of the plane would be great, no idea at the moment.
Kind regards,
Herbert

Looking great there Herbert, nicely done! Indeed the collimator/GGS mounting casting was overpainted too, rather well actually, sympathetically one might say, but just a toothbrush and WD40 had it falling off in sheets to reveal a very well preserved painted original.
I’ve stripped down all the Nav panels to component parts for cleanup, but have stored everything away for the moment until time allows for re-assembly. Sadly still no clues at all to the aircraft ID this end.
It was a treat to power up all the lighting components and warning lamps, and find the filaments all operational after 45 years or thereabouts – quality stuff.
Do have a go at revealing the dessicant window on the GGS though, it might add a touch of colour you know, and the head pad is a substantial item that will make the sight look right again – it’s a tad skinny without that (but it will stick out a bit)!
All the best
John

Youre right, bit strange.
Even don´t look like someone overpainted it afterwards, same colour and signs of wear as the rest.
As far as I can trust the seller, the parts were stripped by him and a friend from the plane at a scapyard from a farmer in Bavaria, stored in a garage for about 20 years and picked by me first, still on it´s collimator and covered with all the dust….whatever.

The piece the rest attaches too has been heavily painted after removal from the aircraft – clue; the window on the left hand side is painted over; it should be clear to show the crystals inside.
I suspect the rest was removed prior to paint.

Thanks Bruce!
My idea is, because I don´t see any signs that there was one glued on it and that one is the gunsight from the actual plane, I´ll leave it without headrest.

Excellent, always good to see parts from the shed in their natural habitat!
Do you want a head rest for the gunsight?

Gloster Javelin control grip
I just finished my Javelin panel display, would like to integrate a Javelin control grip, if someone might want to get rid of it.
Kind regards,
Herbert
