I know. A LOT more then the ending price! PM me if you want to know.
So do I, & it wasn’t much less than I heard WK800 went for- incidentally does anyone know who has got WK800?

Yes, the seller does! You could ask him if you want to take it further.:)

Fouga, May I ask why importing a corroded Meteor when a Belgian Meteor is corroding away on a pole atop the Dinand citadel?
Just curious
Cheers
Cees
From what I heard: the owner wants another aircraft in place. That, plus the Meteor was placed there when the trees were small. Now the trees are all grown up and you can’t get there with a crane. You need to helilift it a few meters down the road to be able to transport it. Again, this is what I heard, don’t take this as gospel 🙂 Looks as I’m out for the Ebay one though. Reserve is a bit high for me.

I don’t have the means (space) to save this airframe unfortunately as the Meteor is an import aircraft for Dutch historic aviation. Although there are some Meteors preserved in our country, it’s a pity that it has appeared on ebay.
This aircraft used to guard the base at Soesterberg, strange that it is being sold by a private idividual. Being Fokker-built it has no historical value for the UK IMHO. Fouga, May I ask why importing a corroded Meteor when a Belgian Meteor is corroding away on a pole atop the Dinand citadel?

You could always donate it to the RAF museum at Laarbruch.
I’m sure they could get it under cover (HAS) and transportation shouldn’t be too much of a problem.:D

Got to see some more. lots of things remaining in the cockpit. No instrumnt panels though. there are some pieces of skin cut out from asbestos removal but nothing that can’t be repaired. I might be interested in buying with a friend of mine, but price is a bit steep for us I’m afraid. We’ll see.

I’m interested in it too, but I wonder. I found an article on this airframe stating it was a gate guard for over 40 years. It was supposed to be restored and placed on a pole on the airport it is currently at, but now it’s for sale. One of the reasons I can think of for doing this is too much corrosion on the aircraft to put it up a pole:(

on your own or with a 10 strong team? :p
Just four of us, 2 labourers, crane operator and truckie, infact, you could do it with three of you if the truck had a hiab/crane attached to it.

Meteors are a doddle to dismantle and transport, if you cannot do it in a day then your not trying, honest ;).

fancy another holiday!
Hows about it then Nige – I fancy another holiday! Quick trip to Holland, few beers, dismantle a Meatbox, few more beers, ship it to Kemble – where’s the problem? 😀
By: JetBlast - 26th August 2008 at 22:13
i think the problem for this listing, is realistically sorting out a team to dismantle and transport the aircraft in the time given, would be nice though 🙂
