Hello all,
Has anybody got any pictures of Gloster Meteor WL405 that they would be willing to share please?
So far Ive seen http://www.abpic.co.uk/photo/1049373/
Ive seen the pics of her on the Meteor Flight website and also Ive been through all the books printed on the Meteor and have viewed those pics of her. Ive also seen the picture of her in Farnborough 100 Years of British Aviation.
Im beggining to research her history. Taken from http://www.meteorflight.com/waveplus/meteor.nsf/pages/airframe_wl405
7th July 1952 Taken on charge by 33 MU.
28th August 1952 Issued to RAF Hemswell Bomber command.
10th Sept 1954 Station Flight, RAF Wittering
19th Nov 1954 231 OCU, RAF Merryfield
30th Nov 1956 To RAF Hemswell Bomber command on communications duties.
16th May 1960 Cat 3 Accident. Repaired by 31st August but placed in storage at 5 MU
13th Sept 1962 To Ministry of Aviation Farnborough on loan. Sale transfer in 1965.
1987 To Martin Baker (as source of spares?)
30th Nov 2001 To the Meteor Flight, Yatesbury. In storage pending future restoration
to airworthiness,The forward fuselage and center-section of Meteor
delivered by RAF St Athan Aircraft Transportation and Recovery Flight
2008 Purchased by myself and awaiting restoration
Somewhere in all the above the rear fuselage (and possibly outer wings depending on sources) went to NEAM. The rear fuselage rejoined the remainder of the airframe only to be scrapped a couple of years ago due to poor condition.
Any information would be gratefully received and pictures are for my own use only.
