Well after great thought I sold it to fund another project, but it went way under what I wanted so its a bargain, I was offed that price just for the seat but there ya go.
49 watchers, only 3 bidders.
I would of put a reserve on it and if it sold it sold. The new project is still missing the cash so I will be flogging lots more very soon.
Hello Colin
It may have done better listed as aircraft parts, worth rembering if you sell anything else. As a dealer I would have bid more than that price but didnt see it. Listing in the right place is crucial . Saying that Ebays strange one minute its through the roof the next its down. Anyone remember the Lancaster panel that made £10,500. I bought it six months later for £3000, if i put it on ebay (which I would’nt do) i bet it wouldnt make £1500 at the moment.

Colin,
I’d like to take this opportunity to say thanks for your hospitality today, and to appeal to the membership in general for any Gnat parts they may know of that would help ‘XM692’ please ?
Cheers…….. 😀

Out of curiosity what is a chipmunk cockpit worth? God I want to buy a cockpit but Australia just doesn’t have any!

Another one for the collection hey Dave! 😀

It’s gone up in value a lot from when I acquired it for a collection fourteen years ago or so. Whether it was ever XM692 is open to doubt – it is the strongest candidate though!

Yes an abosolute bargain at that price, hope it goes to a good home for restoration. Looking at it brought back fond memories of the 1970’s when the RAF recruitment team travelled up an down the country with a Gnat cockpit, as a kid I use to sit inside it and be mezmorised by all the dials. Some 40’s years later I think I’ll have trouble getting in one. I seriously thought about purchasing this but unfortunately despite my best efforts just could not find the room in the garage, despite it only being a small size (7ft) as cockpits compare (Pity).

Should not be too difficult to obtain a decent profile from the remians of the original, the canopy forward and rear rails to have one pulled by a glider canopy vendor, still a few about, would think that £250/300 would see you with a good 4mm perspex replacement ready to cut and fit.

Maybe Colin will tell us all about it, a bit later; I hope it makes a bit more than it is at the moment, because its only round the corner, and very tempting.

there was a canopy glass on ebay around xmas did not see if it sold or not
By: Trolly Aux - 16th May 2007 at 16:56
Shame the nose is missing though. Would the glass be an item easily replaced?
I would think there must be some canopys about but the seat looks great and it would make a lovely project but i think divorce is more expensive so i may have to toss a coin :dev2:

Only a few hours to go on this item, guess it didn’t fit in his kitchen!
