And as Dan pointed out, the loads are not that spectacular anyway!

I’d say this is down to the fact that they operate up to 16 flights a day on some routes (running once every hour) thus the loads are bound to be relatively low. That is of course unless you add the total number of passengers together….

Why wouldn’t it be? Aloha Airlines operate B737s around the Hawaii Islands. The distance from say Hilo to Honolulu is very similar to LGW-MAN and several carriers operate this route using B737 equipment so I don’t see why a CRJ shouldn’t.

But i’m sure there is just a tad more demand on the MAN-LGW route 😉

I had my economics cap on a few hours ago, just wondering how many seats would it to break even on a CRJ, or say a 737

And if Aloha operate 737’s, then that would indicate that a CRJ would not be sufficient??

Not another Hawaiian interisland carrier!

This brings the options now to Aloha with their 732’s, Hawaiian Airlines with their 717’s, Island Air with their Dash-8’s, and now these. I think Pacific Wings cover some routes too.

I flew Island Air Honolulu-Kahului-Hilo and then Hilo-Honolulu a few weeks back on a 37 seat Dash-8-100. One flight had 12, the next 36, and the final 20.

Just wondering is it viable enough to operate CRJ’s on such short sectors?

Dont like website livery or logo. Too bland and corporate for my liking!

It does look to be interesting, and would agree with you on the aircraft choice. A Dash 8 Q400 would be the perfect choice for this kinda of short-haul, low-cost operation. Perhaps they should look at flybe as an example…

I do have to say that I love the look of the livery design, perfect for advertising the Hawaiian islands to surfers…

I’m not too sure how spread out Hawaii is, im sure Mr Nicholson will answer that for me, but i’d have thought equipment such as a Dash-8 Q400 would be sufficient and offer a lower cost-base for them to operate

Jusy my two pence, but they look a nice little setup
