Watched a programme on the Yesterday channel which was about Hermann Goering and his recent? found private film collection. Mostly general stuff but contains some very good colour film of the Me323 Gigant glider as well as Me109 aircraft in what looked like a dark grey overall with a red circle on the fuselage – worth recording and fast forwarding through to the good bits!

And I recall seeing it too, I’m sure at the Brighton Aquarium of all places.
Probably around 1968-ish?
I have a photo somewhere.
Hi Andy, I joined the Force in 66, and was on the Patrol cars the year after, so your just about spot on, not that it matters, but I wonder if it was prior or after I saw it that you did.
With the 2″ thick glass and heavy bullet proof metalwork, I would hate to have gotten my fingers trapped in the door, by accident:eek:

The bloke who owned that Mercedes used to dress the part & take it out for drive. There’s been a few reports of “Adolf Hitler driving down the A1”

Re Goering’s car-sometime in the 1950s it was displayed in a car showroom by Staines bridge( complete with bullet hole). Forget the name of the showroom, but I wonder what happened to it.

Re Goering, many years ago, when I was a Copper, one of my “Tea stops” was Antique Autos, of Baston, Nr Bourne, Lincs. The restoration work was carried out by experts in their own field.
One day, I went into their workshop and saw a very large car, a Mercedes, It had German pennants on it, and I thought it was a re enactment owners car, but it turned out to be H. Goermans car.
The one thing that sticks in my mind, was a bullet hole, that had nearly penartrated the passengers front door glass.
Nothing amazing about that you may think, considering who had owned it, however the glass was nearly 2″thick at least, and the vehicle was almost totaly bullet(Small arms)proof. Somewhere I havea photo of it, must look it up.
