Goldfish Club

Hello! I have found this 1/2 of some French currency in a book that I bought in a thrift shop; I’m hoping someone can shed some light on it’s origins, the people who have signed it…. I’ve found some of the names in various blogs, but mostly dead ends….. any insight would be great; love to find the other half!

Yes, the goldfish club was open to all. Why don’t you contact them – they have an archive and might be able to help you, especially if you have names.

The Goldfish club was formed in 1942 and is an association for people who have parachuted from an aircraft into the sea or who’s aircraft crashed into the sea. It was formed by a British chap so the signatures are likely to be british airmen.

Seems to have been open to all nationalities:

The date format 2-13-44 for 13th Feb 44 would tend to suggest indicate these are American signatures.

Also the names do seem to have an American “feel” to them.

Perhaps the contributors at WIX may be able to help.

Apparently, you have signed in there, so it accepts a link request from your computer’s IP address.

For anyone who does not have an account there, it limits the link to the sign-in page.

This is actually common for sites that require registration before access is granted.

I suggest you download the pic/doc & put them up on a “no registration required to view” hosting site.

That link only goes to a GoogleDocs sign-in page.
