Don’t know if this infringes forum rules so I’ll keep it brief.
I had one of those rare phone calls yesterday – “Would you like a complete Hawker Sea Hawk?”.
Sadly, I can’t take it. She’s up for grabs at 6K. Please PM me if you’re interested.

Hi Albert,
Any chance of providing the serial number for the Scimitar, please?
Unfortunately the pics are too small to see it.
Thanks in advance,
Richard
‘032’ is XD235 and ‘038’ is XD236

Albert’s Sea Hawk subject XE339, as it was in 1999…

Albert – these are fantastic. Thank you.
Do you have any more?!!
No that’s all. I did take a few more slides during the sortie, as well as b/w negs.with a second camera, but they were for other friends of mine.

Thanks! What colour is that Sea Hawk by the way? From the pics it looks rather like the sort of blue-black you get on COD Gannets and the like, not like the full on black like the FRADU Hawks
They’re black, but these shots look a bit blue due to the camera I was using plus all the ultraviolet light and haze over the sea. Paint was a satin finish and note the addition of the Harley Lght under the port wing.

…And the Scimitars now please!
Crikey, that’s a fantastic colour scheme (fumbles around for that Airfix kit..)
I was waiting for that! Yes, these were all taken the same day and that’s the Isle of Wight in the background. These have all appeared in mags and books since I took them, so you may recognise them. Enjoy!

Right, thought I would wait to see how many pleas I got – great! Here we are then – Albert’s day with the FRU! This was on 5th June 1968 and I was 18 at the time (yes, work it out!). I still can’t believe how I managed to talk my way into flying in one of their Meteor TT.20s and getting them to put up the Sea Hawk and two Scimitars for my cameras – but the pilots were civilians and those were the wonderful ’60s!

Albert – yes please!!!

Ah, XE368 – she must have been one of the last Sea Hawks flying with the Fleet Requirements Unit at Hurn. I was lucky enough to do an air-to-air photo sortie with XE339, which was one of the last two airworthy, about 6 months before they were retired. I’ll post the shots if anyone’s interested?
Yes Please Albert, I will bite if no one else does!
It is always nice to see air to air shots of this very photogenic aircraft. 😀
Alan.

but we are trying, should be July 8th/9th
as long as you know thats the same weekend as Leg Ends….
TT
Yeh, yeh I know, unforuntately we have been stuck with this date for a number of years, its the only date in the Bruntingthorpe calender that we can use the track inconcusion with another event and get away with not paying for the hire of the track, to hire it for the day, pay insurance and fuel would canel out our takings its the lesser of a few evils.
Its someting we have discussed many times and carnt see a way around it, its a shame I know.
