Sort of hijacked and updated from the Wilts & Gloucestershire Standard.
“THE owners of Kemble Airfield will find out today if their application to legalise general flying at the site has been successful.
Cotswold District Council’s planning officer, Mike Napper, has recommended the application for a certificate of lawful use should be refused on the advice of the council’s solicitor.
In a report to the planning committee, he said there was a lack of evidence to show the airfield had been used for general flying for a period over ten years.
Objections to the application have been received from Kemble Parish Council, Ashley and Culkerton Parish Meeting and four other interested parties.”

Agreed. Why is it the people who complain most about the noise from airfields are the most recent arrivals in the area? Kidlington suffers it’s fair share of them. I’ve got news for the moaners where Kidlington is concerned it’s going to get worse (in fact it’s already started) so move away now before it becomes too much for you. Leave the place to those of us who don’t mind the noise and appreciate the amount of jobs the airfield provides in the area.
Don’t these people think to ask the estate agents about things like that? It would appear not. If you buy a house near an active airfield then you should expect aircraft noise.

Success for Kemble application
By Alex Love
FLYING at Kemble Airport has just been given permission to continue.
This morning, Cotswold District Council’s planning committee voted to permit the airport’s application for a certificate of lawful use.
The dispute with CDC had been rumbling on for the past three years, when council officials consulted a barrister after noise complaints began to increase.
Last November, CDC failed in its attempt to stop activities at the site after a technicality caused a public enquiry to be thrown out on the first day.
CDC gave operators three months to submit evidence for a certificate of lawful use.
But today’s decision means there will be no restrictions imposed on flying activities at the site.
David Young, airport manager, said: “We’re delighted, we’re still waiting to have North Wiltshire District Council to make a decision, we believe they’ll follow CDC, if that happens it’s fantastic.
“We can put the past behind us, it’s been a long wrangle. I think it’s the right decision, I believe the CDC barrister was clutching at straws. We’re very grateful to the planning committee for being brave enough to vote in favour.”

That press statement sounds ominous. I get the impression thedecision has been made against Kemble’s case without any regard for the wishes of the locals (why does that not surprise me)

The very best of luck with this application. I am surprised the Planning officer has made a statement at this stage. I believe his job is to collate the package of evidence and hand it to the Councils legal team who make the judgement with advice from the Head of the Planning Department. The Planning officer should be unbiased.
If the evidence is good then you get what you want, if it not you will be struggling.
You can appeal to the Planning Inspectorate.
