good museums to recommend?

Hi all, its good to be back and I like the new layout. Having said my final farewells to a sad and lonely Vulcan, I have moved down to the south coast and now live in Gosport, Hampshire and I was wondering if any guys or gals in here can recomend any good museums and airshows worth visiting in the area. Particularly ones that are buggy/pushchair/pram friendly as mrs topgun is about to give birth to our first child any time now.

ps like the new layout

What’s happened to the second world war aircraft preservation group that existed at Lasham anyone ? Does it actually have any WWII a/c yet ?

Did Lasham in March – see here> http://forum.airforces.info/showthread.php?t=22295&page=1&pp=40

Maybe the Prentice counts?;)

Tangmere

Tangmere is well worth a visit – one of the frontline station of the B of B and staffed by some very experienced Veterans. The day I visited I got to have lunch there in the restaurant with a tailgunner of a Wellington and a Polish chap who worked as an agent for us. He had some horrendous tails to tell but was more than happy to tell them.
Try it for yourself.

The FAA museum is definitely worth a look.
Excellent, it is 🙂
I enjoyed the Cobham Hall Open afternoon in May, too.

Don’t forget Tangmere (next to Chichester) and Brooklands 3/4 hour up the A3.

You also have any excellent Submarine museum in Gosport, though you’ve probably noticed that one.

Down your way you have the Museum of Army Flying at Middle Wallop.
The Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton.

The Helicopter Museum at Weston-super- Mare

There are also museums in Southampton and Bournemouth Airport but I’m not sure of current details.
