Good news! Windrush theft of plaque

Just read in the local newspaper that the copper plaque in memory of Sgt Bruce Hancock on the Winrush control tower has been stolen by some thieving Bast@@d last weekend.

Other than the expense that sounds a sensible suggestion. In a respectable society such measures should be unnecessary though.

I wonder if there is a way to take moulds, and perhaps replace vulnerable bronze artiifacts with resin replacements, which would look acceptable, but have no resale value.

I have seen film props of this sort of thing which are most authentic-looking.

its a sad indication of modern life today, but the first thought was as seen hang the b……s by the spericals, but 99.9% of the time they would have been right…I hope it sets a precedence and catches on though.

Can your local police check nearby scrap metal merchants and warn them of this lowly theft.
If its found (or replaced) you may like to visit war memorials trust where they advise on things you can do to protect memorials. or PM me if I can help in any way

Bring back the stocks I say.

Still, bit remiss of the person removing it not to leave some notification…

Good news, but you just have to love the (totally predictable) forum lynch mob. If they’d have had their way, we’d have had birchings, severed hands, and probably worse by now.

Fortunately because of people like Sgt Hancock who stood against tyranny we don’t have Sharia law in this country. But I share your sentiments.

Hi All,
Say what you will about Sharia law they have the Ideal solution for thieving. The ugliest form of theft caused by those with a lack of respect and of their own history. 😡

Disgusting, but sadly all too often. I doubt the perpertrators will get caught, but they deserve to be.

I often used to go to the farm when I was based at Brize Norton, trying to find out what still exhisted at Windrush & remember the plaque had not been put up very long then.

I hope the stone memorial doesn’t suffer the same fate as the Bronze one- the cruel irony is the latter was off the beaten track, so was likely pilfered by opportunists.

The memory of Sgt Hancock deserves better.
