Matt
I can understand why you did it but please try not to drag up threads that are 2½ years old, there is a thread already running about that terrible accident here

Sadly G-BABB Cessna 150 was destroyed Wednesday whilst on a solo flight with a 16 year old student pilot. It crashed into a park after apparently stalling into the ground, but is speculative at this stage until fully investigated.
Thankfully no one else was injured, but the pilot was killed on impact.Condolences to his family at this tragic time.

Dipping into a book of ‘Flight’ reports it describes the Dragonfly as improved structually with as you say a smaller cabin for one pilot and four passengers. The Rapide carries 6 or more.

Thanks for those Mmitch. The Dragonfly is rather gorgeous. What’s the difference between a Rapide & a Dragonfly ? The cabin on the Dragonfly seems a bit smaller.

Bob Hoover
I saw him perform the ‘engines-out’ loop at the Fleet Week display in S.F. a couple of years ago. It was actually a (Recip.) Shrike Commander that he used. I am sure that the Garrett (?) turbines would have him swimming before they wound back up!
I understand that Hoover has retired now – Anno Domini finally caught up, I guess.

ooohhh.. a Rockwell (Aero) Commander, now I haven’t seen many of those.
Does Bob Hoover still do his “Engine Off” displays in one ? I heard he had won his fight with the FAA over his medical but that was the last I heard.

So, anyone else got any pictures ?

That’s a Swiss EKW C-3605 with a turboprop indeed. It and some others started life as a C-3603 figher with a Hispano-Suiza V-12 engine in the Forties and was converted to a turboprop in the Sixties for use as a target tug, the lighter turboprop necessitating a longer nose. A third fin was added too. Most of the surviving examples were sold on the civil market in the Eighties but very few fly today. One of them has been converted back to piston power in Switzerland (I posted a pic of it in the Historic Aviation forum about a year ago or so).

Wow! Excellent shots, thanks.
What is that tri-tail monster with the tandem seats? Is that a turbine engine?

Ooh, yes please! Fancy swapping it for an MG?
