Good reading for a newbie??

Hi to everyone,

I have been taking photo’s of planes for as long as I can remember, using a standard digital camera. In December I bought myself a Canon 450D with 18 – 55 lens and a 75 – 300 lens.
I have be practising and playing but really want to read up on the basics of photography without it fuzzing my brain with more info than I need as a newby to the DSLR world.
My question is whether anyone has a suggestion of which magazine to buy or book to read. I am in the UK and in the supermarket there are many, many magazines all with words and abreviations I do not understand.
Any helpfull tips will be as always appreciated.

Regards,

Clive.

Thanks Scouse,

I was beginning to wonder if there was any life out there!
I will certainly get the book. I have since bought another one entitled “Focal Digital Camera Guides: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi / 450D”.
I am only just into it to be honest but it seems to cover the basics plus a layer or two further to tempt you away from the full auto setting.

Thanks again for your reply,

Best regards,

Clive.

I can recommend the Digital Photographer’s Handbook by Tom Ang. Published by Dorling Kindersley at £25, but I’ve seen it in the discount shops for £7.50.
I’ve been taking aircraft (and other) picture with an SLR since I was a schoolboy in the 1960s, and I’ve still managed to find a lot of useful tips and information in it.
