Goodwood Revival

Attended the Goodwood Revival meeting today, the OFMC fighters were excellent, especially the LA9. They did some great low passes, and some tight aeros, which pleased the crowd no end. Another fine display from OFMC.

For those, like me, who will never tire of seeing a/lots of Spitfires in the air,
this may be of interest http://www.goodwood.co.uk/revival/news-and-coverage/articles/supermarinespitfire2011.aspx

I’ll be there.

Rich.

I can’t get, but I hope that P7350 is among the Spitfires flying there, after all the aircraft flew with 616Sqn who operated out of Weshampnett as part of Bader’s tangmere wing.

Enjoy Rich,

And if P7350 is there, please post us some photo’s.

The workmanship on the Walrus looked good, chaps with the aircraft said it was off to ‘somewhere in the Hastings direction’ for work tawards airworthiness.

It looks ‘good’ because all the work done so far (years of it) was to airworthy standard

Just found this among the cars at Goodwood. The workmanship on the Walrus looked good, chaps with the aircraft said it was off to ‘somewhere in the Hastings direction’ for work tawards airworthiness. They were asking for sponsors and donations. See www.projectwalrus.com

At the Goodwood Revival on Sunday a Tribute to Ray Hanna was held, MH434 was taxied down the track to a point near the pit exit, then Lord March spoke about Ray. All very moving.
Will attach a picture, my first on the forum if it works. Might even try some others.

….unless Twilight Tear has had the nose checkers painted on….??

TT has always had checkers on its nose, at least since it has been in its current scheme.

From an earlier post in a different thread:

In the afternoon there was a display by 2 P-51s, OFMCs & TFCs

I could see one was OFMC’s Ferocious Frankie, but the other looked like Rob Davies’s Big Beautiful Doll…..unless Twilight Tear has had the nose checkers painted on….??

Mind you I didn’t get a good look as I was assisting with a mag removal on a Triton at the time….

I was shopping in Chichester on Saturday and saw two Mustangs displaying and I saw a Dragon Rapide on Sunday whilst walking near Arundel which I assumed had come from/was going to Goodwood. Other than that I dont know, might be worth checking their website out.

Not a bad idea, that…

Will give it a bit more thought, as I’m trying to work on my Battle of Britain novel at the mo, but it’s something that should definitely be done!

It wouldn’t be a question of when am I available, but when is Ray available??

I wonder if that was Mark’s introduction to 434?

Dazdaman, at last years Tiger Squadron convention, i went on a tour of the OFMC aircraft with Ray. He went into great detail as to their histories and flying characteristics as well as many of the other types he has flown. He explained all in great detail and with immense passion that we could all tell he is very dedicated to these aircraft. I did ask him if he intended on writing a book as, if written the way he spoke to us all, would make fantastic reading. He replied he would love to but would never have the time. Maybe you could contact him and colaborate something as i think it’s one book that must be written.

SteveB,

This is not one of my photos.
A little bit of detective work – although there is absolutely nothing written on the back of the print, and I have had it for over 30 years, the form, size, quality, paper, grade, finish etc is identical to a batch of other photos I have from that time. Therefore I am pretty sure, now, who took it. I will speak with him and get back to you.

OFMC now have scanned hard copies.

Mark

Hi Mark12,

Great picture! I wondered if it would be ok for us to use it in the OFMC Tiger Squadron magazine ‘Tiger Tales’. If so, whom should we credit as photographer? Reply to me off forum if you prefer:

Thanks,
Steve
