Goodwood Revival. Spirit of Aviation Display

Last weekend I was lucky enough to be invited to display the Tipsy in the Spirit of Aviation area at the Goodwood Revival classic motor racing event. I can’t praise highly enough the efforts of Rob Wildeboer and his team in creating a fantastic addition to Goodwood.

Not only did we feel it was one of the highlights of our flying year, the public’s response to being allowed close access to over twenty vintage aeroplanes, ranging in size from a DC3 down to our Tipsy Trainer, was amazingly enthusiastic – and respectful of the machinery too.

I just hope we’ll be invited back next year. Even if not, the memory of being number three on finals behind a Spitfire and P-51, with the Mew Gull racer cutting inside my wingtip for a beat-up, that’ll stick with me for ever!!

The only thing I didn’t achieve was getting any decent pictures of the display line-up. Did anyone else get any?

In the meantime, thankyou Goodwood!
