The government plans to consolidate the aviation industry into a single company within a year and appoint a top executive at the nation’s premier private defense company to oversee it, Federal Industry Agency chief Boris Alyoshin said Monday.
Alyoshin said the new company, tentatively called Unified Aircraft Corp., will bring under one roof Russia’s most famous aircraft brands — Sukhoi, MiG, Tupolev and Ilyushin — and be run by a management company headed by Valery Bezverkhny, acting CEO of Irkut.
