I am trying to find out more about a Graviner methyl bromide automatic fire extinguisher. It’s a Mk 21A, Stores Ref No 27N/105. Is it possible to say what particular aircraft types such extinguishers were used on?

Here are some words and illustrations of the vampire system, although the reference numbers may be out of date. I see that the bottles were fired electrically by the pilot pressing a button in the cockpit, which may explain why it says “automatic”.

27N is Airborne fire-fighting equipment other than that I cannot help

Can anyone help with this item. Label states 27N/105
Firstly as its fitted to a cradle I assume its an extinguisher for the cockpit?
Secondly how can the bottle be removed from the cradle without activating it ?
Interestingly it is marked ‘XD 599’ which I assume is the aircraft serial number. Therefore a Vampire T11
Many thanks

Hi all,
apologies for stealing another member’s thread but wouldn’t want to open a similar one! 😮
Could anyone tell me something about these devices I found on a 1974 F1 car?
Power pack type 255A
Extinguisher type 248A-01
Temperature sensor like these ones:

I know it could well be something used on an old aircraft so does anyone know something more about? Wiring scheme, datasheets maybe?
I tried to contact Kidde before but no answer yet and several months passed
Many thanks in advance to all!
Gabriele

My AP1086 (AL5) states 6lb, 1/2in bore discharge supersedes Ref No.67. For Vampire Only.

Terry,
Kidde Graviner mentioned they had the Mk 21A listed as from a Vampire. I assume this particular example came from a Sea Vampire T.22.

Just in case anyone is interested, I’ve now discovered that the Mk 21A Graviner automatic extinguisher would have come from a de Havilland Vampire.
I don’t have spare parts schedules for single seat Vampires but the Vampire T11 appears to have had the Mk20A (see circuit below) and also the single seat Venoms did:

Vampire Bottles
If anyone has any spare un-issued (NOS) bottles for a Vampire I’d be interested to obtain a few………..
