Kee Birds end.

Yes I would have to totally agree with you on that John 🙂 , The whole thing was a huge job right from the start, It has taken me a while, But I did feel a lot for the others such as Garry Larkins, Darrly really did have Bigger balls then most of us and when you have the tiger by the tail its hard to see any thing else or even let it go, Nearly sent him broke as well, And I don’t know what that sort of Experence would have on a person mentaly, He will never forget it, About the other losses yes they were a blow to the world warbirds seen, A while back I was down at Point Cook air base, During the 100 years of flying Day, 17 Dec and I spent a lot of it in the Hangers with the Aussie Mossie Boys Disscusing the loss of such planes, Pitty Aussie Mossie will never fly, But I will go down and help when I have days when I am well enough, She should look great when finished but it still looks like taking 10 years just to static, There is also Some old boys Building a B-24 Lib in an old war hanger at Werribee not far from Point cook, They swear it will fly again but she is a composite of 3 aircraft, And the boys in the Know at point Cook say they will never get the C of A to let it fly, O.k. that it for now, Cheers for now, Tally Ho! Phil. 😉 For the Chap who wanted the ISBN 1 74051 094 1. 😮 sorry.

I suppose we could have a Hate Darryl thread 😡 :p , But I think he will be hated for what happened for the rest of his time  , Cheers, Tally Ho! Phil. 😎

At least he tried!
Sure he failed, but you’ve got to gibve the guy some credit for attempting something so ambitious.
It’s more than most of us have done in the field of warbirds….
And at the end of the day, the loss of a B-29 isn’t much compared to some of the other warbird losses…the loss of the last flying A-20 Havoc, Mosquito, He111, (not to mention the crews lost in each of these…) plus the scrapping to extinction the Sterling and dozens of others….take a look in a history of RAF and see how many planes are no longer represented.

I too would reccomend Hunting Warbirds, it is an excellent read. I knew the Kee Bird had burned, but it wasn’t untill I read this book that I learned why, and when I did I was quite shocked at the cause.

I Know I was Depressed at the end of the book 🙁 , I think the end of the Kee Bird was a huge blow to anybody who has read the book, I used to think Darryl Greenamyer was a hero, But the Kee bird thing left me with a bad taste in my mouth 😡 , RUSH RUSH, If only they had taken more time to get every thing right, But as always What IFs  , Cheers, Tally Ho!, Phil. 😉
