Great Museum

Visited The Shoreham Aircraft Museum at the weekend. Well worth a visit to anyone with an interest in WW2 aviation. Full of artifacts from aircraft “digs” relating to both RAF and Luftwaffe, each exhibit having photos and information relating to crew members. I may be preaching to the converted but this place is a little gem.

To those of you reading this thread, if your thinking of visiting a Battle of Britain related venue next weekend, our museum is open on Sunday 14th September, as Ken Ellis says ‘….one of the most rewarding aviation museums you can find.’

I know who are now, remember you offering the photo of George Corbett’s grave to the museum.

The newsletter is available only to members of the ‘friends’ of the museum I’m afraid. If you would like to join, it costs £10 for a years membership, which gets you four issues of ‘Friends of The few’, plus it entitles you to free entry to the museum. Also at the moment, we are offering the latest Geoff Nutkins print (Geoff is also our curator, who you spoke to Sunday) ‘The Castle Farm Dornier’ at £29 to members, as opposed to the normal price of £57.50p. So you can join the ‘Friends’, buy the print, and still save yourself £18.50p!

To join, send your name, address, and e-mail address to- The Shoreham Aircraft Museum, High Street, Shoreham Village, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN14 7TB, enclosing a cheque for £10 payable to ‘The Shoreham Aircraft Museum’, or else pop into the museum again.

regards

Geoff

Andy P,

Many thanks for your kind words – the cheque’s in the post. I was there too Sunday, helping to run the museum (I’m also editor of the museum newsletter).

For anyone thinking of visiting the museum, we close for the winter at the end of September, so Sunday the 28th will be the last chance for you to come this year (museum is only open on Sundays). Parties of 20 or more are welcome at other times however. See our website at www.shoreham-aircraft-museum.co.uk and of course the article in the September 2003 issue of FlyPast for more info.
