For us LBA locals anyway, just been on Look North, Jet2 have announced flights to Paris. Dont know which Paris airport (Really hope CDG), and dont know times or anything.
Very surprisingly, nothing on Jet2.com or the LBA website.
Cracking news! Its happened at last!

Yeah, I think Jersey and Cork would work best with Baby, not so keen on the Glasgow or Edinburgh, look what happened at EMA when they transferred such business routes over to Baby, they were a big flop, and they are gradually been reintroduced into the Mainline airline.
1 Based a/c operating 2x daily Jersey and Cork would be my favoured option.

Personally I don’t know what the demand would be on any lo-co Scandinavian market from LBA.
Scandinavia has been previously tried a while ago back (late 90s)with the F70 of bmi. AT the time they required the F70 to fill in a 3rd daily CDG service i believe, which subsiquently moved onto the E145 fleet. This was at a time when the bmi LBA operation was a bit of a mess with the fleet with B735, F100, F70, Saab 340 and impending E145 arrivals and it was decided they needed make more sense of the operation and started to standardise on the F100 and Embraer fleets. At the time CPH was said to be coming back, and was indeed scheduled to come back online last year until SAS got upset saying that the Start Alliance partner would hit some of it’s MAN pax. Bmi’s excuse was the start of the Gulf war, however yet again rumours of a FRA and CPH service would be operated this winter if bmibaby took over the ORK and EDI services, with possably the Glasgow route. Another service which i would be surpirsed didn’t make the switch would be the JER run, which is ever popular from LBA, especially in the summer season, with last year having 5 (i think) rotations with bmi alone on a Sat from LBA. Other services included BA and VLM. Currently E145s operate 1x daily weekday service.
Lots of possbales on the cards here, but the majority seem to be tied up by bmi’s future plans!

You know what Steve, Germany completely slipped my mind there, that would be great. And why not Copanhagen if BMi never get their arses in gear?

I think another market which could be tapped by lo-cos is still Germany from LBA.
Everytime that bmi are rumoured to make a change a German run is rumoured – why doesn’t a lo-co take a crack at say Cologne or Berlin and see what the pax demand really is?

Yep, can never see Jet2 really competing with Ryanair, still hoping for Gatwick and Rome from LBA. If we get them and Baby on the Cork run… Happy days!

What do you think the chances are of JET2 competeing with Ryanair on the LBA-DUB flights.Althogh Im a Ryanair fan I think JET2 could give them a run for their money?
Jet2 have a great reputation in the local area, but would they be able to compete with FR prices? I think that would be the long and the short of it, and i could see Ryanair thrashing Jet2 if a price war commnced – not really a good idea I think!

Ah thanks for explaining that. I assumed all the LoCo’s flew into T1. I now stand corrected.

I didn’t even know that CDG had a Terminal 3. I thoght it was just 1 & 2. I’m confused now (not that it takes a lot!).
Yes , there is a remote terminal (which was called T9 before) .
It is used for charter and LoCo operations

I was over in CDG with work the other week and flew in with EZY to T3. I don’t think it is too bad as the airport is really well served with free shuttle busses.
Very glad about this run as i might be able to take advantage of a LBA-CDG-LPL “day run” between Jet2 and Easyjet as an alternative run to work the day before my shift pattern starts!
Well , they improved it so.
The last time I went there , it was awful (was called T9 at this time)

Terminal 2 can’t be used, and how many people will be connecting onwards?
Why T2 can”t be used ?
By: LBARULES - 14th June 2004 at 22:11
Amsterdam has always been 2x daily.
Ah well T3, at least they are flying there, and to an airport actually near Paris!
By: SHAMROCK321 - 14th June 2004 at 21:35
They will probably increase if the demand is there.Did Amsterdam start off as 1 daily?

They must have only just put that up! Thank god its CDG, though i’m not pleased with the flight times, it would have worked much better with a morning and evening departure, but maybe thats the only slot they could get. At least its another destination we can fly to for reasonable money from LBA and it might push prices down on the BMi CDG flight.
Thanks for pointing it out Pablo 🙂
Well , don’t be so happy . Usualy , chaters and LoCo’s are based at T3 which a kind of remote , unconvinient Terminal .
Yep I checked ADP’s website : It’s T3 !
