Great North Fly-in 19th/20th June (Eshott Airfield)

Attention All!!!

GREAT NORTH FLY-IN

This year the ‘Great North Fly-In’ will once again be hosted at the former Royal Air Force Station Eshott, Northumberland. The event will take place on the weekend of the 19th & 20th of June

*** ALL PROCEEDS GO TO – HELP FOR HERO’S ***

*** Supported by Wings Over Northumberland ***

Landing fees are free thanks to the airfields owner, Storm Smith (Purple Aviation), however this is a charity event in aid of a good cause so donations would be most welcome. Landing fees are normally around the £5.00 mark. (MOGAS & AVGAS will be available)

***All aircraft that can land on a 610m tarmac runway most welcome***

Grass runway also available dependant on wind direction

To improve on last year we have a few more activities planned that will hopefully bring more interest and therefore more donations. We will still have the beer garden with BBQ during the day and live band on the night time but we will also be including:

• Military Vehicles
• Vintage & Classic Vehicles
• Cockpit Section Gathering
• Aviation Market
• Northumbrian Produce Market

Not to out-do Newark Air Museum’s much acclaimed ‘Cockpit Fest’, we would still welcome as many ‘Cockpiteers’ as possible to make the event more interesting, so feel free to bring your cockpit along (please contact us before hand so that we can arrange a plot of land). This also goes to anyone who can bring along vehicles also mentioned above!

For more information please ask away on here or contact the event coordinators:

Spitfire/109 simulators

Should be able to do something for you then with the Millom simulators. If not spit/109 certainly a Piper Tomahawk. Give me a PM with your number and I will sort something out.

and a rather nice Aeronca. You could probably put yesterday’s Sea King in the historic category too!

Ow… burned to a crisp. Fantastic day’s aviating, and I think we had about 40 aircraft today. That constant stream mentioned earlier all arrived together and kept the marshallers very busy. Historic wise, we had a Soko Kraguj and Evans VP-1 G-BKFI.

Today couldn’t have been more different weather wise and I’m slightly crispy around the edges from the sun. There were a large number of aircraft on site and much aviating being performed. I think the gloom from yesterday has been forgotten about after today.

Did you get a lot of aircraft flying in today ? We had an almost constant stream of light aircraft, of all types, flying the same track, in your direction around dinner time.

I had a quick visit this morning to Eshott and sadly the wind was strong and the sky overcast so by the time I had to leave there were few visitors. However the organisers spirits seemed to be undaunted. Here’s hoping that the weather improves so that all that beer and burgers will not go to waste.

Hopefully other participants will make up for her if she doesn’t get in…

Auster & Canberra now set up and in place with the Wings Over Northumberland stand 🙂

I’ve got the Jeep virtually all packed, and will be heading North soon. Need a few pilots to buzz the field and blow the clouds away though. It’s bright, but cloudy.

Yes, it will be open to the public but aimed mainly at enthusiasts like yourself. No entrance fee but donations most desirable…:D:D

Hi,

Is the flyin open to the public, if so do we just turn up in the car? I’ll be travelling up from the South on the A1 with my mam and dad.

Cheers, Chris 🙂

Opening times are normally around 9 although there is no reason you can’t turn up earlier. If you do turn up earlier than that just ask for me and I’ll meet you. PM me if required!

When is the opening time on Saturday? Planning to be travelling by car from the North. Is the entrance the Microlight entrance?
