Hiya,
While I was looking for those Sea Hawks pics I found these 2 pictures of the Supermarine Scimitar.

Hi All
with the V’s on the tails of the aircraft and the twin gun turret in the foreground I pretty sure the second picture is on HMS Victorious. Can anyone confirm if the first picture is the same ship.
Yes it was, in 1958. Apparently, the V-Bombers were doing a simulated attacked on the HMS Victorious.
Cheers
Chris

Pic #2 is probably 145/V XD238 and 150/V XD236 of 803NAS during winter 1958/59 on board HMS Victorious on the types first operational cruise/deployment on a carrier. Chance are that pic #1 is from the same time.
There are a number of cockpits around, mainly from the Scimitars that went to be βtargetsβ at Shoeburyness.

Yes, the third survivor XD220 was apparently swapped for an ex-USN Phantom, which is now at East Fortune.
W&R18 however report it as still being under FAAM ownership and only on loan to Inteprid.

Such a shame there are only 3 left, and only one is on display in the UK at the FAAM. The Southampton Hall of Aviation’s jet is in store somewhere and will probably only emerge when they move to a new building, or demolish the old one to get the Sandringham out π

Didn’t we exhange the third survivor with the septics for something, and it’s now displayed on the deck of that aircraft carrier moored in New York.
So eventually there will be only 2 left…..

It looks like it is to me but I can’t be sure.
All the best

The second pic’s great. D’ya reckon they were revving the engines, waiting for thelights to change?
