Anybody know what the last aircraft to fly in and out of here was and on what dates? A picture would be even better!
Thanks,
Nick

Thanks for all your detailed replies!
So ironically, it could be that the last fixed wing movement was actually a Russian TU-154 at Greenham Common!! 😉
I don’t know if it was the last fixed wing movement as I probably would have missed landings/take offs when I was at work but certainly TU 154 CCCP85566 would have been one of the last fixed wing movements. As you say, quite ironic when you consider what the purpose of the base was. 😀

I believe the protesters were known as Peace Protestors as opposed to Green Peace Protestors. The missiles were housed in silos and were to be taken out into the countryside in times of tension as opposed to being fired from the base itself. In addition to the serials mentioned by T-21, I logged a few of interest (outside the airshows)

Regular USAF users of Greenham in the eightie’s were 58MAS CT-39A(Sabreliner) 24461,24462,24471,24474,10654,03483. C-12A 60166 and 31216. Also visits by C-9A 10878 and 10882 of the 435 TAW. It is most probable that a C-12A was the last movement. Since closure gliders and tugs may have used it since.

I was working at Greenham Commom from 1983-85 at the height of the green peace protesters, the aircraft bringing in the missiles where mostly C5 Galaxy’s and Starlifters. So could be that they did the removal of the missiles as well.

I don’t know, thankfully it wasn’t a missile. Were any GA types allowed to land on the site after the military left?
