Naturally the biggest differences between the A/B and C/D variants are underneath the skin. But even though they all look pretty much the same, there are differences. I put together this little guide in order to make identification faster.

Another way is to go by the serial number or tail number, and it’s probably easier. Even though some details can easily go by unnoticed.
A. 39101-39206(39130 became the first twoseater Gripen 39800)
B. 39800-39814(39800 has now been been modified into a D)
C. 39208-onwards(39207 became 39-6)
D. 39815-onwards
In the beginning the RSwAF Gripens wore two digit identification codes, but they were soon changed into three digit codes.
