I just wonder, though, if the aircraft had experienced some issues in flight with the Hydraulics, why the thing wasn’t being towed once it had landed safely and prior to being checked out.

Wasn’t it an issue with the Hydraulics that caused that Alaskan Mad Dog to divebomb Santa Monica Bay?

Indirectly, mainly a tail plane screw jack issue if I recall.

That is something, you can see the result of that collision in pictures with an explanation but still can’t picture how it happened untill you see footage of it actually happening.

The fact that it was raining probably made the DC-9 slide even further.

The level of damage suggests that quite a speed was involved, must have been terrifying to be in.

wow!! lucky there were not injurys.

There were a number of injuries, the DC9 captain was ‘seriously injured,’ the first officer ‘injured’ and some of the cabin crew also ‘injured.’

Edit:
Recorded by a security camera, which maybe only takes an image every second or half second? Perhaps the media have speeded it up so it runs a little more smoothly and in turn making the whole thing seem to happen quicker?

I heard about this when it happened. Didn’t actually think it was possible for something like that to happen! 😮

That’s amazing. It’s quite surprising that the A319 in particular was evacuated so quickly, especially as by this point into your trip, you still won’t seen a safety video and been told how to get off of the aircraft.

“In the event of being shunted from the rear by a DC-9, please use the forward exits!”

Like that you mean T5 ? 😀

I’m surprised the DC-9 captain didn’t quite literally lose his head there.
