Ground target discrimination

The US could really use ability to electronically identify friendly armour and vehicles on the ground in the same way in reverse already done. I mean – a big american flag on the back of your Humvee is sufficient, maybe up to half mile away, but from 10000 feet with a black-n-white visual from a Maverick, its not much use.

Hence the growing trend of US pilots to go, geez! was that one of ours?! Lets blame the FAC.

Perhaps the cost doesn’t merit the sensibility.
