The aircraft is N226CG and I believe owned by Connie’s son.

Just out of interest, how many Albatross’s (??) are airworthy now?
I seem to remember that there were a few around not that long ago, including that gorgous white and sea grey one that came to the UK for a couple of shows.
Lovely old beast!

Was it Dennis Buehn?
The photo is not Dennis Buehn.

It looks like the USGC marked SA/HU-16 of Connie Edwards (of BoB film Buchon fame).
His had similar anniversary graphics.
He owned it in 2003 when I met him in Texas…I don’t know if he sold it.

Albatrosses in Europe
Someone call my name?:o Bill da Silva has friends in Scotland and regularly brings his Albatross over from the States. It was at Southampton’s Seawings in June 2000, at Biggin Hill in June 2002 and at the Coventry Air Show last year – so pretty regular!
Reg is N7025N/141262 in U. S.Navy colours – a beaut!;)

Yeah, I caught it on second glance…still, Lake Mead makes more sense…you can’t land a plane legally on a lake here in Colorado, so they’d be land based…kinda useless….Oh well.
The above shot was taken at Breckenridge Texas back in 1996, the photographer’s daughter is riding in the Albatross which then landed on Hubbard reservoir and her and Connie’s stepson got out and went swimming in the lake while the photographer/mother circled in the photo T-6 taking pictures of it all…all in all a great photo flight and a great airshow, sorely missed these days.

Sorry Mr166B – not only did I spell the place wrong it was the wrong place. See Melv’s post.
My abject apologies for over-exciting you!
Cheers

A gathering of them here in Boulder, Colorado? When did this happen, or when is it going to? I’d love to see it!
Here’s Connie Edwards Coast Guard bird….appropriate, since I’m ex Coast Guard.

The Greeks still have a bunch of them at Elefsis. They were operational only ten years ago, i’m actually a bit surprised these haven’t showed up on the private markets yet.

There’s a static museum one in Spain – Quatros Ventos, outside Madrid. NOT mobile though! Only one I can think of in Europe. If someone wants to flash enough cash, you could get one of the N American fliers over. Have a google for Albatross events. There was a meet relatively recently, but i don’t have the URL. Bolder Colarado? I’m guessing wildly here…Cheers
Lake Mead near Las Vegas. I was going to go but putting engiens together got in the way. Besides I have had enough of Albatrii at the moment!
