Thought I would open a new thread and ask in case my question gets no response in the Duxford diary thread as rossistb has had so far.
any info on the Hellcat nose ? guessing that it could have come from Cyprus by the Greek writing ? so putting that and the paint together, ex. Royal Navy ?
Nice piece as is.

Second that. Would be a cracking project to restore and possibly get running.
I have the correct propeller ready and waiting!

To me this looks to be a quick change standard ‘Power-Plant assembly’ – engine, bearer, accessories, dedicated cowlings etc.
Perhaps best not to anticipate the bit it hangs on.
Yep, looks like a power egg to me too, nice item.

Have you got any more detailed pics of the engine, Fiat12x2?

Definitely a joke label. It just says “Global Airplane Ship-ping Solutions Inc” in a direct transliteration of English to Greek letters, it’s not in Greek. And the X is a chh sound not kkk, so it actually says “Inch” and “Chhontents””!

Mr Roobarb, you are a VERY naughty boy! 🙂

I think if you throw in some sweaty old flying gloves with “provenance” you’ll have about 1/6th of a Hellcat with “history”..
or was that the “other one”…
oh no, I’m thinking of the F6 in the States…
or was that a Mustang…
or two…

The label sounds too “meerkat” to be genuine…! Any chance we are being teased?
I remember a shipping container proudly labelled “Chinese Stirling Parts” a few years ago!

A remarkable survivor either way.

Just love the color!
Reminds me of the Corsair in Yeovilton

It’s a P&W R-2800 B-series Double Wasp engine. Is the rest of the aircraft to follow?
Love the address label: Duxfort, Great England!
