Götheborg III sets sail for China

This was the scene an hour ago in Gothenburg as the replica East Indiaman GΓΆteheborg III set sail on a leisurely voyage to China, commemmorating her predecessor who sank at the entrance to Gothenburg harbour on her homeward voyage from China 300 years ago – the porcelain she was carrying is still being raised and sold!

I looked, and admired. Thanks for sharing.

There’s more old tall ships around that one might think. Off the top of my head, Seaworthy – the Amsterdam, Dyfkin and Batavia, Holland, and HMB Endeavour, global, also the Bounty replica in Syndey and the Enterprise in Melbourne – both engine powered (pooh) to allow for legal pleasure jaunts.

Do you have any pics from your spring visits chaps?

Thank you very much Anna – perhaps you are the only person who has looked at them! However it was in important day for Gothenburg and it seems that half the population turned out to line the river banks – not to mention the “rush hour” afloat!
Your encouragement has prompted me to add two more.
Not many lads and lassies get the chance these days to stand on the topmast, I guess!
(BTW thought of you as I passed Sandhurst on my way back from the FAA Museum a couple of weeks ago in a rush to catch a Stansted flight)

πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ I was at Portsmouth this weekend πŸ˜‰ posted on the Navy Forum πŸ˜‰ .
Next time you pass Sandhurst Turn About!! πŸ˜‰ I will give you a tour πŸ˜‰ Anna πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚
