Guess the Dock 4

This is going to make it a bit harder this time, good luck to all!

I’ve included three pics of the same dock, the third shows that naval ships do dock there. Bonus points for the name of these ships 😉

USS Boxer (LHD 4)
http://www.boxer.navy.mil/Images/Boxer3.jpg

USS BOXER was built using more than 21,000 tons of steel, 400 tons of aluminum, 400 miles of electrical/electronic cables, 80 miles of piping and tubing of various types and sizes, and 10 miles of ventilation ducting. More than 16,200 gallons of paint were applied to the ship’s exterior hull.

I think you’re right about the LSD 42 (at least the LSD 41 class anyway) but it can’t be an LHA. The Tarawa class have 5″ mounts forward on either beam leavijg the flight deck narrower there. The ship in the pic doesn’t have these so it has to be one of the follow-on Wasp LHD class.

Yep, you’re right on that. I knew that 😀 Got carried away trying to figure out which particular combo of ships had visited Darwin and when.

Welcome to Port Darwin, Autstralia. The amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu (LHA 5) and USS Germantown (LSD 42)?

Well I did actually recognise the skyline but I’m afraid that one would have gone pretty quick anyway Ja. The first pic has NT in the watermark and the white building in the second has “Welcome to Darwin” on the roof 😉

Not sure about the first ship, Orion or Prinsendam perhaps? Second is Europa and the liner in the middle pic is Star Princess I think. The naval vessel is a Wasp class US LHD. Not sure about the one in the backgrounof that pic.
