the lightning was i think XG327. also their was another lightning XP341 i think,also a devon i cant remember the serial, a JP T4, a hunter,two whirlwinds, a VC10 fuselage,a vickers viscount, two phantoms ex 74 sqn one of which was ZE360, and a whispering wheelbarrow,plus of course the almost destroyed victor.

i do have photos of most of them if anyones interested?

From various editions of Wrecks and Relics I find these tidbits of info:-

Vulcan XL386 was removed from Manston during August 1993, in a well deceased state, apparently, by Hanningfield Metals of Stock. It had flown in 26/8/82 from 101Sqn.

Last Shackleton was WL741, which flew in by 5/81 and apparently perished in 1987.

Meteor F8 – last was WK803 – consumed by 3/77 or T7 WF816 – gone by 1976.

Is the Lightning F1 XG327? (Arr 23/4/77 – departed the same time as XL386).

Just the ones mentioned in W&R – if they aren’t the ones involved then maybe the wreckage survived longer than the informants knew!
