Guild of Aviation Artists 34th Annual Open Summer Exhibition. โ€˜Aviation Paintings of the Yearโ€™.
Tues 20-Jul-2004 to Sun 25-Jul-2004
Closes at 3pm on final day.
The Guild of Aviation Artists are pleased to return to the Mall Galleries for this, the Guildโ€™s principal annual event which will again celebrate all aspects of civil and military aviation in almost every conceivable hand-applied medium. With sponsorship from BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Messier-Dowty and Winsor and Newton and a wide range of Awards and Trophies the exhibition, now the biggest in aviation art wins increasing status and attendance with each year.

I have been to quite a few when it was at the Carisbrook art galleries and if you are interested in original artwork you wont be disappointed.

Yes lots of concord pictures, and some outer space paintings as well made a nice contrast to the normal [and loved] warbirds.
Whilst watching Mr Wong,i did notice he was working without any references i e photos,it was all in his mind and knowledge of how different things react with differing light and angles.
I wish i had plucked up courage to ask him some questions but there always seemed to be a queue waiting and watching.oh well, sorry

Have to agree, it was an excellent show. Lots of Concorde paintings this time, of course. I believe there’s another exhibition in Coventry next month for anyone in the Midlands who missed the London show.

Wow Trumper, that must be a unique experience seeing such a great artist in the creation process. You’re very fortunate, well done mate.

Were you allowed to take photos at the exhibition? I guess that is unlikely.

Cheers
Dave

I believe there was a sign on the entrance saying no photography,i assume copyright s etc. They were however selling cd’s of all the paintings exhibited in 2001 [i think ] for ยฃ5 so i assume either they had permission granted[by all the artists] for that or the copyright reverts to the GAA for sales like that.
Just outside of the Mall in trafalgar square we did see this, ๐Ÿ˜ฎ someones coming to rescue the RAF in the cutbacks LOL

๐Ÿ˜€ Went to the GAA exhibition today, some wonderful bits of work and some very talented artists,oh i wish my bank balance was better. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
Whilst i was there Ronald Wong was there painting a Spitfire picture,in the 15 or so minutes i watched him the painting completely changed in atmosphere and composition.A few brush marks here and you have trees and buildings,a bit of colour and you have different lighting conditions, very nice to see,oh for some talent like that. ๐Ÿ™‚
