I rather like the painting of the RAF scheme peeling off the VC10 to reveal the BOAC scheme underneath

No nothing entered this year Andy, never seem to have the time to paint, frame and lug them down to London, and I’m in Poland for a few weeks now anyway having a much needed break! That Mingaladon composition is very tempting… do you think we could find a sponsor…?!

Anything by Mark Postlethwaite?
If you are reading this, Mark, I am still saving pennies to commission an original. One day!
And no truth in the rumour that there was a painting after the style of Terrence Cuneo, then? : ‘Burying The Crates at Mingaladon’
I can see it now. Men toiling in the heat, nailing shut the boxes with glimpses of Spitfires to be seen, whilst others labour on digging and shovelling alongside the railway line…with Cuneo’s trademark mouse sitting on the Coles Crane jib.

I wonder how often GAvA president Michael Turner sees clones of his work pop up…

The opening ceremony was attended by some notable aviation personalities, Sir John Allison gave the opening speach but also there were Winkle Brown and Harold Penrose, to name but three.
(
I thought Harold Penrose of Westland and Airymouse fame left us many years ago?

If it was “Valley Hawks”, a great purchase.
Thought the standard a bit down on last year but on the other hand I have trouble painting my house!

I purchased a Wilf Hardy only to find it had won the Flypast Trophy.
Best painting in my judgement was the 59 Sqn RE8s by Graham Turner but £7.5K is way out of my budget. 🙁

Allow a good 2 hours to go round and see them all properly. They normally have an artist actually painting or doing a guided talk about the paintings and artists as well.

And they are all Original works, they have come straight from the pen or brush direct to the paper or canvas .

I really enjoyed browsing through the online galleries http://www.gava.org.uk/2013-gallery/
Such a refreshing change from the usual fare of incessant Spitfires, Hurricanes, Lancasters, P-51s and B-17s that seem to be all that the galleries selling prints at airshows offer these days.

Just got back from a quick visit to the exhibition. Some really excellent work and fortunately the trio I was keen on had all been sold, so that saves some money and grief from my wife. One comment is that there aren’t many civil subjects, fewer than 10% as a guess, and those that are there seem to be mainly Doves and Rapides. (Better get down there Chris!!).
