Guinea Pig club – (not quite the) last member

Read on the Ships Nostalgia forum that the last member of the ‘Guinea Pig club’, George Henry Raby, recently passed away;

Anyone know this name?, probably not, no particular reason anyone would.

I just read that he died on the 29th August.

He was the last surviving member of the Guinea Pig Cub, that remarkable group of burns victims and their treatment team led by Sir Archie McIndoe.

Closes the book on an amazing story whose legacy lives with us today in the remarkable acts of reconstructive surgery performed around the world.

Anyone know any more about him?

As always with Wiki maybe a good starting place but should always be taken with a good dose of caution and important “facts” checked elsewhere.

There are people who go through changing things for the “fun” of it.

There are also people, fortunately, who troll through putting these things right.
Take a look at a number of entry histories and you will see this.

I also know one of the Guinea Pig club, I saw him at a family wedding last month, I can report he is also still with us, it was good to see him as I’d not seen him for a bit.

Good to hear that he is still with us. Someone needs to edit Wikipedia!
