Consider this-
As far as the “legality” of the new war goes, I heard it explained today in a way that I hadn’t heard before.
The cease-fire in 1991 is only in effect if Saddam gets rid of his WMD. Since he obviously hasn’t complied with that, then the cease-fire from the 1991 war in the Gulf is therefore null and void. Which means we can go back into Iraq, with the legality issue solved insofar as the UN goes (whether they choose to acknowledge it or not).

Scary thing is he will have nothing to lose if he stays and if he is prepared to die there, then as a cornered rat may do, he may decide to UNLEASH all on the US, but I agree this could be his last chance to try and slam Israel. Revealing once and for all to the world that he HAS these WMD will hardly matter if he is dead. He knows that and probably couldn’t care less..as he has been judged and sentenced by the US for sometime now.

Actually it’s the Israeli’s and the Iraqi citizens who should be concerned about that. Regardless, with the chem/bio defense gear we’re equipped with, I don’t see a problem for the US military. Go ahead. Let him use them and see what happens. At least he’ll go ahead and prove us right.

…and the US will now offer it’s own troops for Saddam to unleash his WMD upon (unfortunately, i can’t find a smiley with a terribly sardonic, cynical smile). Truely a means of last resort to remove the WMD from the region…
