Hey everybody.
Big news today for Dublin is that GulfAir will start a 3 weekly scheduled service to Dublin from December 2nd using there A330-200s.
I initially thought it was a joke like all the old EK jokes weve had but now this is official.
The wait is nearly over. From 2nd December, Gulf Air will be flying non-stop via Bahrain to Dublin every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. And if you’ve never enjoyed our premium service, here’s your chance. All flights to Dublin feature flat Sky Beds in First and Business Class. Premium guests can dine on award-winning onboard cuisine, personally prepared by our Sky Chef. We’ve been awarded for the Best Onboard Catering in First and Business Class by Skytrax, the world’s leading passenger survey. Sky Nanny is also available at all times to take care of your family’s needs, even in Economy Class. What’s more, we’d like to invite all premium guests to relax in our award-winning Business lounge in Bahrain. Ireland has a renowned reputation for hospitality, and on your way there we’d like you to experience ours.

All airlines do make the stop when crossing the pond, either on the way in or on the way out.

Since when is stopping in SNN profitable? All the airline who are forced to stop there becasue they fly transatlantic want out of the place.
AC and US only operate in the summer to DUB becasue they cant make money with a stop off in the winter.
DL threatened to pull out of DUB altogether if it wasnt dropped but thankfully only dropped their JFK service.
Im sorry but anybody who think long haul airline stopping off in SNN is profitable needs to take a closer look at what EI and all the other transatlantic operators from DUB are saying.
Sorry my mistake didnt realise it was complusary given not all airlines made the stop.

Howdy,
The fact is, the Irish economy has gone from being a pathetic joke to Europe’s Tiger in less than 20 years. At first thought, you think its a joke, but when you think how dynamic the Irish economy has become, this flight makes perfect sense.

Yes its stronger than it was but I would not go as far as saying it was Europes “Tiger” (which by i assume you mean premier). I doubt most people think of the Irish or their Economy as a Yoke but hey maybe the Yanks do!
Good news for Dublin. Could this potentially encourage Emirates to come in? Maybe if Emirates (or indeed Gulf Air in the future) did a ME -> DUB – > SNN -> ME service that could get them a few more passengers? Stopping at SNN is usually profitable for a wide host of airlines!

Good news for Dublin; I’m really suprised that Emirates missed the boat here. If they can operate @10 daily flights to the UK then surely there must be some demand to/from Ireland?

I think Gulf Air have spotted a gap in the market and tried to beat Emirates to it. Good luck to them

This also makes it possible for Irish tourists to bypass the rest of Europe if the want to connect to Asia or the South Pacific.

Ye GF had charters last summer for a few weeks but now a scheduled service woohoo.
By: LBARULES - 15th July 2005 at 16:18
Indeed, superb news, am I right in thinking GF used to operate a series of charters from DUB?

Wow great news for Dublin indeed. Its been crying out for a middle eastern link for a while, but I always thought Emirates or Qatar would get in there first. Well done Gulf Air.
