Last Monday, a Gulfstream GII, c/n 172, N987SA crashed in the jungle in Mexico. It was carrying 3.3 tons of cocaine. There is a possibility that he was shot down. The plane was registered to a company out of Miami.

It might be a hint that the FAA accident database doesn’t list it as a mishap. They usually list all N-registered aircraft involved in mishaps, wherever they occur.
Even though it’s old, a G-II is an expensive freighter (alt least compared to the days when they flew DC-3, Beech 18s and stolen Aztecs) but I guess they have the profit margin to support it.
