This weekend sees the Great Vintage Flying Weekend event at Hullavington in Wiltshire, and YET AGAIN, the weather seems set to throw a spanner in the works! The previous Hullavington in 2005 was more or less a monsoon, and Keevil last year was restricted from 3 to one flyable days. Never mind, fingers crossed anyway. Saturday may be tricky, but the met office website is saying ‘scorchio’ for Sunday.
Circumstances preclude my flying in (drive instead) , but I imagine there will be a number of forum flyers booked to go. Who’s playing?

Saturday was indeed jolly windy, but I was amazed to see quite a number of Cubs and Moths at the event, in weather where I would not have even opened the hangar doors. There was no sign of the usual Air Atlantique squadron, so the tone of the event was more light and fluttery. A Proctor and a Vega Gull made a lovely paired departure.
Today (Sun) was altogether better and there was a varied turnout, with a good Miles flavour as usual. Hairyplane was there with his fleet, and Melvyn with the ‘Red Beaver’, though it seemed to fly away with a empty seat, which should be illegal! There was also a pretty little Hatz biplane and three Chrislea examples.
All in all, a great event- long may it continue.

May always seems a bit fo a bummer month to go flying in. NB last year when Moggy had to get up before the birds to get a gap in the weather then fly the Colt off to Italy with a IR-rated pilot 😉 We thought better of flying in frontal conditions and stayed at home
First week of May seemed okay however since then I think our flying has been limited, but we have been able to do something most days even if it can be a little sporting at times.
